Salesian Boys & Girls Club's Paola Gomez had the opportunity to attend our State Capitol on Thursday, April 24th, 2014.
As Club Youth of the Year and State finalist, Paola was given the opportunity to increase recognition and public awareness of Boys & Girls Clubs among legislators, state agencies, and other statewide stakeholders.
Through out the day, Paola was given the opportunity to learn more about civic engagement and government at work. Paola met with Assembly member Jimmy Gomez and talked about issues in our community, from denim day to identifying key issues in our community.
Assembly member Gomez presented Paola with a California Legislature Assembly Resolution for her dedication to the Boys & Girls Club and community.
After an empowering and meaningful day, Paola mingled with the other 8 California finalist one last time before heading home. Paola will compete for State recognition on May 20th, in San Francisco.
