Programs and initiatives in this area develop young people's capacity to engage in positive behaviors that nurture their own well-being, set personal goals, prepare for ever changing society and live successfully as self-sufficient adults.
Healthy MealsThe LA Food Bank provides healthy meals and snacks to over 200 kids each day to the Salesian Clubs.
TRIPLE PLAY "Healthy Habits" Designed for ages 6 to 15, the program aims to incorporate healthy living and active learning in every part of the Club experience, Healthy Habits, which is also the "Mind" component of Triple Play: A Game for the Mind, Body and Soul, emphasizes good nutrition, regular physical activity and improving overall well-being. Cavity-Free ZoneCavity Free Zone aims to increase young people’s awareness of good oral hygiene and improve their dental health. Cavity-Free Zone was developed in response to the recent Surgeon General’s report on oral health, which revealed a silent epidemic of oral disease in this country, especially among disadvantaged youth. The program features fun, engaging sessions and activities for Club members ages 6-9, 10-12 and 13-15. Clubs can also log on to the Cavity Free Zone Website to participate in games and other interactive activities designed to reinforce their learning about oral health.
